Arcade Cast Iron Coupe with Driver — Blue, c.1925–30, Republic Tires
Step back into the golden age of American toy making with this Arcade Manufacturing Co. cast iron coupe, produced in Freeport, Illinois, circa 1925–1930. Beautifully finished in its original sky-blue enamel, this charming coupe features a cast driver behind the wheel and nickel-spoked wheels fitted with period “The Republic Rubber Co., Youngstown O.” tires — a signature pairing used by Arcade on their early automobile toys.
This model reflects Arcade’s mastery in blending durability with design flair. The curving fenders, squared roofline, and crisp embossed doors capture the look of the real automobiles that inspired a generation of young motorists. Cast with “ARCADE MFG CO FREEPORT ILL” and factory mark “1S” on the underside, this piece embodies the ingenuity of early 20th-century industrial toy art — sturdy, expressive, and distinctly American. Collectors prize these smaller Arcade coupes for their whimsical proportions and authentic period detailing.
