Ecuadorian Tooled Leather & Wood Coffee Table
Ecuadorian mid-century coffee table attributed to Ángel Pazmiño for Muebles de Estilo. The rectangular top is crafted from soft, hand-tooled leather featuring deeply embossed pre-Columbian motifs framed by a continuous geometric border. The warm brown leather surface rests on a sturdy turned wood base with cross stretchers, combining traditional Andean artistry with modern craftsmanship.
Pazmiño’s furniture, produced in Ecuador during the 1960s–1970s, is celebrated for its bold integration of indigenous design and functional form. This example captures that distinctive aesthetic, offering both cultural significance and sculptural presence—an iconic piece of Latin American modern design.
Condition
Good, sturdy condition with visible signs of use. Wear to leather including scuffs and small surface marks; slight paint or marker residue visible along one edge. Presents well overall, with an appealing vintage patina consistent with age and material.
