Primitive Hanging Wall Shelves — Original Paint, 3-Tier
A three-tier hanging wall shelf in the American country tradition, built from solid planks with shaped side boards — scrolled ears at the crown, bracket cutouts at the feet. The construction is honest and direct: flat-sawn boards, square-nailed joinery, and a form that served farmhouse kitchens and pantries for generations. Two period hanging clips survive intact at the top corners, ready for wall mounting.
The original paint surface is the piece's defining asset. Multiple layers are exposed wherever the topcoat has lifted — cream over red over white, with bare wood beneath — creating an authentic chippy patina that decorators prize and folk art collectors specifically seek out. The paint history here is not damage; it's documentation.
CONDITION Good. Structurally sound solid wood with no visible breaks or repairs. Paint loss is extensive across all surfaces — shelves, rails, and side boards — with heavy chipping and peeling consistent with age and the natural failure of layered coatings; all wear is age-appropriate and authentically rustic in character.
