Arcade Cast Iron ICE Truck U.S.A., Original Paint, c. 1930s
A true classic of American toy-making, this authentic Arcade cast iron ICE delivery truck dates to the 1930s–early 1940s, a period when Arcade Manufacturing Co. dominated the cast iron toy market in the United States. Produced in Rockford, Illinois, this example is boldly marked “Arcade U.S.A.” and retains its original red paint with raised “ICE” lettering along the cargo bed—an instantly recognizable design tied to early home ice delivery before widespread refrigeration.
The truck features original rubber tires embossed “Arcade Balloon 30 x 5.25,” a highly desirable detail confirming originality and period correctness. Its cab-over-engine form, open windows, and sturdy cast iron construction reflect the durability and straightforward charm Arcade toys are known for. This piece is guaranteed authentic and is not a reproduction, making it a strong addition to any serious collection of cast iron toys or early American vehicles.
Condition
In good vintage condition, showing signs of use and age-appropriate wear. The paint appears original with scattered loss and surface oxidation. A section of the front bumper is absent, as shown. Wheels turn freely, and the cast iron body remains solid. Offered exactly as pictured.
