Description

Early 1930s Wyandotte Pressed-Steel Dump Truck, Wooden Wheels

Step back to the dawn of the motor age with this early 1930s Wyandotte pressed-steel “Pump Dump” truck — a charming relic from the golden era of American toy manufacturing. Produced by the All Metal Products Company of Wyandotte, Michigan, this sturdy orange hauler captures the simple ingenuity that made Wyandotte Toys a household name. Crafted from heavy-gauge steel and fitted with original wooden wheels, it mirrors the rugged style of real work trucks that built Depression-era America.

This smaller hand-tipped version (without a pump or crank lift) features Wyandotte’s early single-color enamel finish, the open cab, and angular dump bed distinctive to their first steel toy line. Honest playwear and patina give it genuine character, making it a wonderful display piece for collectors of early American tin and pressed-steel toys — or anyone who appreciates the timeless appeal of toys built to last.

Condition
Good vintage condition with expected signs of use. Paint appears original with scattered losses, scuffs, and oxidation to the axles. Wooden wheels show surface wear from play. Structurally solid with no major dents or repairs; dump bed tips freely by hand as designed.

Dimensions
3" H × 7" L × 3" W
Weight: 8 oz

Collector’s Note
Wyandotte began producing pressed-steel trucks around 1929, often borrowing design cues from contemporary Ford and Mack work vehicles. Early examples like this one—with wooden wheels and simple enamel bodies—are increasingly sought after for their prewar craftsmanship and nostalgic charm.
