Kenton Cast Iron Jaeger Cement Mixer Truck — Large 9”, c.1930s
Step back into the golden age of American toy making with this Kenton cast-iron Jaeger Cement Mixer Truck, the large 9-inch version dating to the early 1930s. Cast in bold red with “JAEGER” proudly embossed on the cab and drum, this toy celebrates the partnership between Kenton Hardware Co. of Kenton, Ohio, and the real-life Jaeger Machine Company, famed for its concrete mixers on Depression-era job sites.
This model features flathead screw construction, a nickel-plated drum that spins when rolled, and an ingenious chain-driven mechanism connecting the rear axle to the mixer—a tiny feat of prewar engineering. With its rugged cast body and distinctive cream rubber tires, it captures the robust optimism of early American industry in miniature form.
Condition
Good overall condition with original paint showing areas of wear and oxidation consistent with age. Tires are cracked and chipped but remain attached. Drum spins smoothly when rolled, and the chain mechanism is intact. Honest patina throughout enhances its vintage character—unrestored and authentic.

Collector’s Note
Kenton produced this Jaeger mixer in the early 1930s, using Jaeger’s real industrial designs as inspiration. Two sizes were made—the smaller 7½" and the larger 9" model seen here. The rotating drum mechanism, driven by a chain undercarriage, remains one of Kenton’s most admired toy engineering feats.
