Bandai 1959 Cadillac Tin Friction Car – Black, Japan, 11.25"
A striking 1959 Cadillac tin friction sedan by Bandai, Japan — a gleaming miniature homage to America’s golden age of chrome and fins. Crafted from painted steel with a glossy black finish, bold rear tailfins, whitewall wheels, and a vivid lithographed green interior, this piece captures the swagger and optimism of late-1950s automotive design. The underside proudly bears Bandai’s hallmark: “CADILLAC – SIGN OF B QUALITY – MADE IN JAPAN.”
Produced during Japan’s postwar tin toy boom, Bandai’s luxury car series showcased world-class craftsmanship and attention to detail that rivaled their American inspirations. This large 11.25-inch model includes a friction motor (untested) and the signature blue-tinted windshield that adds period-perfect style. The Cadillac nameplate alone evokes a time when cars weren’t just transportation—they were art in motion.
Condition
Good vintage condition, showing age-appropriate wear and use. Light surface scratches and small dings to the roof as shown; mild oxidation on chrome areas and some scuffing to windows. Friction mechanism untested. Still retains great shine and character, perfect for display.
