A fine example of Brown's Perfect Letter & Paper File, this piece is marked by the original maker, Brown & Besly, Chicago, with a partial label intact inside. The outside features a partial provenance label, adding to its historic charm. Made from oak solids and veneers, it showcases dovetail construction and flathead screws, reflecting its late 19th-century craftsmanship. The piece features brass hardware, with the original latch showing signs of wear, including burn marks.
Condition: The file box shows appropriate wear for its age. The wood finish exhibits wear, scratches, and chipped veneer, and the exterior paper label is partially absent. The brass latch has burn marks, and there are other signs of age-appropriate wear throughout.
