Arcade 1922 Cast Iron Dodge Coupe & Yellow Cab — Maker Marked USA
A charming pair of early Arcade Manufacturing Co. cast-iron automobiles, proudly maker marked and made in the U.S.A. These heavy, beautifully sculpted toys capture the spirit of the roaring 1920s — when America was learning to love the open road.
The sleek black “1922 Dodge” Coupe bears the distinctive 1922© date cast into its rear spare tire, a signature detail found only on Arcade’s first-generation automobile line. Its crisp fenders, upright roof, and solid body reflect the company’s precision sand casting from Freeport, Illinois — a small town that became the epicenter of America’s early toy car industry.
The bold orange-and-black “Yellow Cab” taxi is equally iconic, modeled after the real fleet of Checker-built cabs that filled Chicago’s streets in the 1920s. Arcade’s decision to immortalize this everyday city hero turned it into one of the most recognizable cast-iron toys of the era — and a must-have for collectors of antique vehicles and Americana alike.
Condition
Rated Fair with age-appropriate wear. The Yellow Cab retains original paint with scattered losses and oxidation; includes (3) original wheels and one axle, not installed. One wheel absent. The black Dodge Coupe appears repainted in glossy black; structurally sound with a clear 1922© mark on the spare tire. Both display authentic patina and period hardware, perfect for display or restoration.
