Description

1983 Care Bears Metal Lunchbox by Aladdin – Classic 80s Nostalgia, Maker-Marked

Step back into the colorful world of the 1980s with this Care Bears metal lunchbox, officially licensed and maker-marked Aladdin Industries, Nashville, Tennessee, dated ©1983 American Greetings. Featuring the original Elena Kucharik artwork that helped define the Care Bears franchise, both sides burst with embossed rainbow scenes of Tenderheart, Cheer, Grumpy, Good Luck, Funshine, and their friends spreading love and kindness across the clouds.

The bright blue trim and handle, sturdy metal body, and embossed details perfectly capture the charm of early ‘80s school days. Inside, the classic printed thermos outline remains—a nostalgic reminder of packed lunches and playground trades. A cheerful collectible that bridges animation history and retro Americana, ideal for display, gifting, or vintage décor.

Condition:
In fair, display-worthy condition, showing age-appropriate wear from gentle use. Light surface scratches, paint chips, and a few small dings are present but blend into the colorful design. The interior shows minor oxidation near the seams, and the latch and handle remain secure and functional. Please see photos for full details.

Dimensions:
Overall: 7" H x 8" W x 3.75" D

Collector’s Note:
Produced during the peak of Care Bears’ popularity, this 1983 lunchbox was part of Aladdin’s final decade of U.S.-made metal boxes before switching to plastic. The artwork—signed “Elena”—is by Elena Kucharik, the illustrator behind the original Care Bears greeting cards, books, and TV artwork.
