Description

Early 20th Century Hand-Painted Porcelain Vase Lamp

Originally crafted as a porcelain vase in the early 20th century, this exquisite piece was later converted into a table lamp, a common practice during the era to repurpose fine ceramics into functional décor. The lamp features a hand-painted floral motif, with delicate pink roses and lush green foliage set against a soft cream background. A marbled burgundy fluted neck extends upward, enhancing its Art Nouveau elegance.

The vase is adorned with ornate double handles, painted in complementary green and burgundy hues, adding a sculptural element to the design. A reticulated rosewood base provides an additional layer of sophistication, while a felt bottom ensures stability. The vase appears weighted, with a sound reminiscent of small stones inside when moved. The lower portion is decorated with an Art Nouveau-inspired gilded pattern, reflecting the era’s signature ornamental style.

The lamp is fitted with a brass socket and has been tested for functionality. The wiring was likely added during its conversion to a lamp.

Condition:

  • Good condition with no visible damage.
  • Tested and functional, with intact wiring.
  • Some minor surface wear, particularly on the wooden base, consistent with age.

Size:

  • Overall Dimensions: 13.5" Height x 5" Diameter
