Description

D. Stewart “In Old Mesilla” Oil – Signed, Adobe Scene

A richly detailed oil painting by Dorothea Stewart Hart, titled In Old Mesilla, capturing the quiet beauty of traditional Southwestern adobe architecture. The scene features a sunlit adobe home surrounded by hollyhocks, shaded by lush trees, and enclosed by an adobe wall—all signature elements of historic Mesilla, New Mexico. Signed "D. Stewart" lower left and inscribed with full name and address on the verso.

Painted in oil on stretched canvas and housed in a carved wood frame with linen border (no glass), this work resonates with strong regional character and a deep sense of place. A desirable piece for collectors in Las Cruces or anyone drawn to the cultural charm of our region.

Condition:

In excellent, like-new condition. The painting is free of damage, and the frame is structurally sound with light toning to the linen border from age.

Dimensions:

Framed size: 17.5 x 20.5 x 1.25 inches
Visible image: 8.5 x 11.5 inches
