Functionality and Appeal

An essential addition to any Beatles collection, this live album captures the band in December 1962 during their final Hamburg residency at the famed Star-Club. The setlist includes energetic renditions of early rock ‘n’ roll standards such as “Roll Over Beethoven,” “Hippy Hippy Shake,” and “Long Tall Sally.” These performances reflect The Beatles’ formative stage presence and the gritty club energy that shaped their sound.

Historic Context

These live recordings were made by Star-Club stage manager Adrian Barber using a single-microphone reel-to-reel setup at the request of musician Ted “Kingsize” Taylor. Released in 1977, the album was legally contested by The Beatles, who objected to the quality and unauthorized nature of the recordings. Despite this, the courts upheld its release due to its historical significance. Today, it stands as a unique time capsule of the group’s pre-fame raw talent, recorded just before Ringo Starr joined the band full-time.

Condition

New/sealed in original shrink wrap. Original hype and price stickers are affixed and well-preserved. Some light wear to the corners of the outer sleeve from storage, but overall excellent presentation. Vinyl is presumed mint and unplayed. A clean and collectible copy of this important historical release.
