The Beatles 'Historic First Live Recordings' 2xLP — Pickwick PTP-2098, 1980
Offered here is The Beatles – The Historic First Live Recordings, a 1980 double LP issued by Pickwick Records (PTP-2098), capturing rare and raw live performances from The Beatles’ final residency at Hamburg’s Star-Club in December 1962. These historic sessions were recorded by King Size Taylor and are among the earliest surviving live recordings of the classic Lennon–McCartney–Harrison–Starr lineup.
The performances reflect The Beatles at their most primal—before international fame—delivering energetic renditions of early rock standards including “Long Tall Sally,” “Hippy Hippy Shake,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” and “Kansas City.” Though originally recorded on a monaural home reel-to-reel and later transferred to stereo, the set holds immense historical value, offering a vivid window into their club-era sound.
This edition includes the original Pickwick inner sleeves and comes housed in a gatefold jacket with liner notes by Howard Brinkman, highlighting the recordings' context and technical restoration process.
A remarkable piece of Beatles history, ideal for collectors and early rock enthusiasts alike.
Condition:
Vinyl is in excellent condition with no visible scratches on Sides 1–3. Side 4 shows one faint surface mark only noticeable under close inspection. Gatefold sleeve is in good condition with minor scuffing to the bottom edge. Inner sleeves are original and well-preserved. Overall a clean, presentable set.
