Rolling Stones “Through the Past, Darkly” LP — Octagonal Cover, London NPS-3
This is an original 1969 U.S. stereo pressing of Through the Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) by The Rolling Stones, issued by London Records (catalog number NPS-3). A follow-up to their first greatest hits album, this compilation gathers some of the band's most iconic late-‘60s tracks, including “Paint It, Black,” “Ruby Tuesday,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” and “Honky Tonk Women.”
Housed in its rare octagonal gatefold sleeve, this edition is prized for its bold and unconventional design — inspired in part by M.C. Escher’s geometric work. The front features the band pressed against a cracked glass window, while the inside includes a full-spread photograph of the group lying in a star formation. A touching printed tribute to founding member Brian Jones (1942–1969) appears inside the fold, making this album both a musical and visual time capsule.
This version includes the original blue London “Stereophonic” labels, and is pressed on black vinyl. Produced by the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Miller, and Andrew Loog Oldham, this album captures a critical era of the band’s evolution and continues to be a highly collectible piece.
Condition
Sleeve has very light storage wear but retains strong color and form, with crisp spine and edges. Vinyl is in excellent condition, showing no scratches or significant signs of use. Both labels are clean and intact. Includes the original octagonal inner sleeve.
