Description

"Sun & Eagle" Sandpainting by Wallace Watchman – Signed, Framed, Navajo Art

Vibrant Navajo sandpainting titled "Sun & Eagle" by artist Wallace Watchman, signed and inscribed on the verso with a detailed explanation of its symbolic meaning. This traditional piece is designed to invoke the healing spirit of the Eagle for a sick child, represented at the center of the radiant composition. The circular motif symbolizes the sun, surrounded by eagle feathers and sacred elements of the sky and water, rendered in rich earth tones, turquoise, white, and black.

Professionally framed and matted without glass, the artwork features suede-like matting in warm brown tones that complement the natural sand textures. A visually arresting and spiritually rooted example of Navajo ceremonial art.

Condition:

In good condition. The artwork surface is stable with minimal wear. Frame shows light to moderate scratches, and some edge wear is visible. Matting remains clean and presentable.

Dimensions:

  • Overall (Frame): 21 1/2" x 21 1/2"

  • Visible Artwork: 15 1/2" x 15 1/2"
