Tiger Oak Gothic Curio Cabinet – Leaded Glass
A tall and elegant vintage curio cabinet with solid oak construction and tiger oak veneer, stamped “2295” on the interior—matching examples seen in Wombell’s UK antiques auction. This piece features a single leaded glass door with Gothic arch tracery and four removable interior wood shelves, spaced at approximately 8" and 8.5". The vertical form is enhanced by fluted rounded pilasters, a gently scalloped apron, and richly figured quarter sawn veneer across the façade. A brass escutcheon and original working key are included.
The cabinet has been previously restored and retains a warm, well-blended finish. Owing to its narrow depth and tall proportions, it is top heavy and may tip forward if the door is opened fully—anchoring is strongly recommended.
A functional and attractive display piece, ideal for showcasing books, heirlooms, or glassware. Likely American-made, c.1930s–1940s.
Condition
Good condition with age-appropriate wear. The cabinet has been previously restored and shows minor surface marks. The door does not close fully flush. Top-heavy when opened—anchoring is recommended to ensure stability due to slender proportions.
