Artist Biography
Stephen Quiller (b. 1946) is an acclaimed American painter, author, and educator known for his innovative techniques in water media and his deep exploration of color theory. Working primarily in watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and casein, Quiller has developed a signature style that often reflects the dramatic beauty of the San Juan Mountains near his home in Creede, Colorado.
He is the creator of the Quiller Color Wheel, a tool widely used by artists to understand and apply color relationships. Beyond his artwork, he is a prolific author with several influential books including Color Choices and Water Media Painting with Stephen Quiller. He has received numerous awards, including the Gold Medal of Honor from the American Watercolor Society, and continues to teach and exhibit internationally through his gallery and workshops.
