Signed Raku Pottery Vase by Rudy
A vivid and artfully crafted studio pottery vase, hand-thrown and signed Rudy on the base. This piece features a striking pit-fired surface with swirling marbled coloration in rich reds, blacks, and earthy whites—hallmarks of the traditional pit-firing process. The body has been finely burnished, lending a soft sheen that enhances its smoky, organic texture.
Around the rim, a unique copper wire accent adds an elegant finishing touch, subtly contrasting the vessel’s natural tones. The base is incised with a stylized pottery symbol and the signature “Rudy,” pointing to a skilled ceramic artist possibly working in the American Southwest or in the lineage of contemporary studio pottery. While evocative of artists like Rudy Autio, no definitive attribution is made.
Elegant in form and compelling in its coloration, this vase makes a beautiful statement as a collector’s item or decor piece.
Condition:
Excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or notable damage. The surface is clean and vibrant, with expected natural variations from the pit-firing technique. Please refer to the photos—Campbell’s soup can shown for scale.
