Benny Linden Teak Dining Set – 6 Chairs, Danish Modern, 2 Extension Leaves
This seven-piece dining set, designed by Benny A. Linden (b. 1929), exemplifies the fusion of Scandinavian design and Thai craftsmanship. Manufactured in Thailand during the 1970s, the set includes a solid teak extension table and six high-back rail chairs, each bearing the original "Benny Linden Design" maker's label.
The table features a 2-inch thick top and distinctive 2-inch bowed pedestal legs, extending from 73" to 112" with two 19.5" leaves. The chairs, constructed from solid Burmese teak, showcase contoured slat backs and original beige upholstery over 1.5-inch turned legs. Linden's designs are renowned for their ergonomic comfort and minimalist aesthetics, comparable to the works of Niels O. Møller and other Danish masters.
Benny Linden's furniture gained popularity in North America during the late 20th century, celebrated for its quality construction and timeless design. This set stands as a testament to his legacy, offering both functionality and mid-century elegance.
Condition:
In very good condition overall. The teak wood retains a rich, even tone with only light surface wear. Both leaves have a small 1/8" indentation, as noted. Only the chair upholstery shows wear—with minor staining on most seats and one chair more heavily marked. Structurally sound and well-maintained.
