This festive piece was donated by our lovely friends Libby Davis and Norman Swope. They were kind enough to give us this strand of Prosperity Hens to benefit 1CaT, for which we are very grateful. Prosperity Hens are created using brightly colored scraps of fabric, sequins, colorful glass beads, delicate silver embellishments, and yarn. The piece ends in a hand-hammered bell that produces a soft, pleasant chime. This garland combines intricate craftsmanship with cultural symbolism, making it an eye-catching accent for interiors, festive displays, or spiritual spaces. This strand of “Prosperity Hens” is valued at $25.

Story of "Prosperity Hens":

For thousands of years, chickens have been a symbol of prosperity in India. In parts of India with harsh climate, chickens could mean the difference between poverty and relative abundance.
