Description

Mark Carter is a friend and was very kind to donate a piece of his hand-thrown pottery to help 1CaT, and we are grateful. He created this cool stoneware mug, which is valued at $32. For several years, we have carried Mark's pottery at our Cloudcroft, NM gift shop/gallery Off the Beaten Path, and his art sells well.

About the Artist:
Mark Carter, Cloudcroft, NM
Mark Carter has lived in Cloudcroft for many years, and recently retired after working and teaching more than 30 years at the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NMSBVI). Mark has been creating pottery for more than 40 years, and still loves to get his hands dirty with clay. Mark initially was bit by the "throwing bug" during a middle school art class in Iowa. While working for NMSBVI in the 1980s, Mark was able to rekindle the long-dormant desire to throw pots through instruction received from visiting artist Chris Spanovich. Mark further developed his throwing and ceramic skills in classes at the University of Northern Colorado, and he was one of the founding members of the Madison and Main Gallery in Greeley, CO.
