Hand-Painted Rock, Large, Colorful Mountain Scene, by Gina Sweeny View Watchlist >
Although she never thought of herself as an artist, our good friend Gina Sweeny is pretty talented with a paintbrush. She just recently started painting on rocks, and was surprised how much she enjoys her new art gig. She was very kind to donate three of her colorful rocks to benefit 1CaT, and we are most grateful. Using acrylic paints, Gina loves adding color to these otherwise somewhat drab rocks. Check out the closeup photos to see details of Gina's art. The value of this colorful and fun rock is $40.
About the Artist:
Gina Sweeny, Cloudcroft and Alamogordo, NM
Gina Sweeny has been visiting Cloudcroft and the Sacramento Mountains for a quarter century, and was blessed to make the full-time move to Cloudcroft 7 years ago. Although they had never really been “cat people”, Gina and her husband Gary “inherited” a family of feral cats when they moved to Cloudcroft and bought a new home. She and Gary also have a home in Alamogordo, as well. Gina is a retired teacher, and never considered herself an artist. She first saw a hand-painted rock in a gallery in Truth or Consequences, NM, and was fascinated by it. Much to our delight, she decided to try her hand at it – and she is quite talented at painting rocks! This has become her creative outlet, and we are grateful that she donated three of her works of art to benefit 1CaT!
