Description

Rio Grande Woodworks Santa Fe Carved Queen Headboard by Hector Telles

Bring a work of art into your bedroom with this exceptional Queen-size headboard, handcrafted in Las Cruces, New Mexico by the renowned Rio Grande Woodworks. Designed and created by master artisan Hector J. Telles, this piece captures the essence of classic Santa Fe style, blending bold artistry with timeless craftsmanship.

Skillfully constructed from solid Ponderosa pine, the headboard features a dramatic hand-carved sunburst fan motif at the crown, framed by twisted rope posts that add sculptural depth. Four hand-hammered copper panels, each measuring 11" × 11", are set into the frame — their intricate radial designs and naturally aged patina offering a striking visual contrast against the warm pine.

Built using kiln-dried materials for lasting durability, this headboard is far more than a functional piece; it is a testament to a revered tradition of Southwestern woodworking. Hector Telles’s creations are highly sought after today, as his workshop is no longer producing, making this an increasingly rare opportunity. Whether placed in a Santa Fe, ranch, or rustic-inspired home, this headboard will stand as both centerpiece and heirloom.

Please Note: Mattress and bedding shown in the photos are for illustration purposes only and are not included in this listing.

Condition:
Good overall condition, consistent with the rustic aesthetic. Minor surface wear is present, enhancing the authentic character of the pine wood. Natural knots and grain patterns are visible throughout. The hammered copper panels display an attractive aged patina. No remarkable damage or structural concerns observed.

Size:

  • Overall: 67.5" (Height) × 67.25" (Width) × 4.25" (Depth)
  • Copper Panels (each): 11" × 11"
