Just walking into the Old Barrel Tea Company is a treat in itself – the aromas of teas and spices and other pleasant notes greet your senses. Strolling around the shop is interesting and invigorating, and the ladies who tend the shop are very friendly and knowledgeable. This women-owned business has teas from all over the world, all blended into interesting combinations in Albuquerque, and everything needed to brew a delicious cup of tea. They also carry several different honeys, some local, and they all are tasty. Shop their spices for a change of pace from the same old stuff seen at a grocery store. If you like tea, and haven’t tried loose-leaf tea yet, do yourself a huge favor and try it – you will be forever transformed. Imagine eating a store bought tomato versus one picked straight off a sun-drenched vine in a garden. That’s the kind of difference in tea bags as opposed to loose-leaf teas. (A good friend of ours from France turned Berle into a tea “snob”, and she will never be able to go back to teabags again.🙂)
