Nancy Apprill began creating art at a very young age, and has continued off and on throughout her life. This unique platter was created shaping a slab of clay, stamping it with a few different impressions, and glazing then painting figures on it.
This cool platter of Nancy’s is valued at $40.
About the Artist:
Nancy Apprill, Cloudcroft, NM
Nancy Apprill has had an interest in art from childhood and later received her bachelor of science degree with a major in art from Central Missouri State. Later, she took a detour to New Mexico in the early 1970s, returning to college to become a special-education teacher. However, art has always been on her mind and surfaced throughout her teaching career. As she neared retirement, Nancy has given more attention to her art career.
She works in many mediums but says she feels most comfortable with pottery and watercolor. However, she also enjoys oils and acrylics. Nancy said she felt fortunate to have taken classes from many professional artists living and visiting in the Cloudcroft area.
Condition:
Good - there is a crack in the platter that came about as the clay dried. The crack really is not that noticeable on the platter. Check out the closeup photos to see the crack.
