Roy considers himself a southwestern abstract nonobjective artist. For his collages, he uses acrylic paints and mixed media, and he was very kind to donate one of his paintings to help 1CaT. About the Artist:
Roy van der Aa, Las Cruces, NM
Roy was born in Amsterdam, Holland and grew up in Montreal, Canada, but emigrated to the US in 1989. He has studied fine art, printmaking and archaeology, and has considered himself a full-time artist since 1978. He has exhibited with the Las Cruces group ArtForms since its inception in 1997, with the Border Artists and the Insighters, a local group with a metaphysical focus. He has had more than 100 solo, 2-person and group shows. Since 2008, Roy has shown in Truth or Consequences, Carrizozo, Socorro, Alamogordo, Mesilla, Silver City, Roswell and El Paso, TX. Roy’s work is held in private and public collections in Canada and the US. Roy and his wife Robin Baxa have published The Ink newspaper for 21 years.
