Using terracotta clay, Donna individually sculpts the kitty’s separate parts – head, ears, dress, wings – and the wings are impressed with her hand-carved fish stamp. Under glazes are used to add various colors to the kitty. The kitty’s necklace has a lamp-worked glass fish bead on the end surrounded by glass seed beads. This whimsical puss is a great gift for the cat enthusiast, and can hang out just about anywhere – kitchen guardian angel, pet memorial, office guardian – wherever you want to uplift the spirits or remember special kitties in your life. Donna McCavitt, Athens, GA

Donna McCavitt was formally trained in Drawing and Painting, with a BFA in Surface Design, specializing in Color Chemistry; but her true passion is clay and textiles. In her work she combines fabric sensibilities, printmaking, painting, carving, and the simple joy and wonder for Nature in all that she creates. Donna’s artist statement includes: “My style has evolved since my childhood endeavors with clay and painting but I still love creating pieces that have a message, even though I am much more lighthearted now.” She exclaims, “Laughter and Art can make life more joyful!"
