Description

Vintage Derby & Ball Scythe – 58” Wood Snath, Steel Blade, Early 20th C.

This vintage scythe features a hardwood snath and a forged steel blade, marked by two period labels that add provenance and appeal. The wooden handle bears an original Derby & Ball No. 50 label, while the blade retains a partial 'Bankoiliar' maker’s label—both indicative of early-to-mid 20th-century American agricultural tool production.

This style of scythe was widely used for mowing grass or grain, and today makes a compelling collectible or rustic decorative piece.

Condition:
In good condition overall, with age-appropriate wear and oxidation. The wood handle shows light surface wear and retains structural integrity. The steel blade displays a natural rusted patina and surface aging. Both labels are partially intact, adding historical authenticity.

Overall Size: 58" H x 28.5" W x 8" D
