Description

Large 19th C. Hand-Forged Copper Pot — 17" Diameter, Iron Handles, Split Base

This large 19th-century hand-forged copper pot features a wide flared rim and heavy riveted iron loop handles. Likely used as a utility vessel for cooking, dyeing, or laundry, it reflects the robust craftsmanship of early rural or hearthside equipment. The copper shows rich patina and verdigris, with visible hammering and wear throughout.

Measuring 17 inches in diameter and weighing over 8.5 pounds, it’s a striking piece for repurposing—as a rustic planter, hearth accent, or historical display. A 5-inch split on the base confirms it is no longer watertight, but does not detract from its aesthetic value.

Condition:
In fair antique condition. Moderate age-appropriate wear with oxidation, surface marks, and a visible 5" split on the base. Dents and dings present; handles are secure.

Dimensions:
Height: 9 inches
Diameter: 17 inches
Weight: 8 lbs 8.6 oz
