Spanish M1941 Mauser Bolo Bayonet w/ Scabbard – Toledo Marked
This is an original Spanish M1941 Mauser bolo bayonet, manufactured by the Toledo Arms Factory. The blade features the serial number "4572 N" and is marked "Toledo" on the ricasso. Designed for the 8mm Mauser M1943 short rifle, this bayonet showcases a bolo-style blade, checkered wooden grips, and a straight crossguard with a muzzle ring. The steel pommel includes a functional press-stud mechanism. The accompanying metal scabbard, likely blackened steel, exhibits wear consistent with age and appears to be missing an insignia or badge. This bayonet represents a piece of mid-20th-century Spanish military history.
The M1941 bayonet was developed as a replacement for the earlier M1907 Artillery Bolo bayonet. It was designed for use with the Spanish 8mm Mauser M1943 short rifle. The bolo-style blade was intended to provide additional cutting power; however, it was considered somewhat impractical and unpopular among troops due to its weight and balance
Condition:
The bayonet is in fair condition, exhibiting moderate wear consistent with age and use:
-
Blade: Dull with areas of rust and pitting.
-
Grip: Shows honest wear; checkering is worn but intact.
-
Scabbard: Surface wear and oxidation present; appears to be missing an insignia or badge, as indicated by an empty mounting point.
Size:
- Overall 14.5"
- Blade 9.5"
