Description

Don Schupp “Organ Mountain Reverie” — Enamel on Copper, 1985, Signed

This original enamel-on-copper artwork by Don Schupp, titled Organ Mountain Reverie (1985), showcases the artist's vibrant abstract interpretation of the Organ Mountains near Las Cruces, New Mexico. The piece features rich bands of red, yellow, and blue enamel, delineated by bold black lines, reminiscent of cloisonné technique. Signed in pencil lower right and verso, it includes the artist's label affixed to the back. Framed and matted without glass, the artwork measures 11 x 16 inches, with an overall frame size of 18 x 24 inches.

Don Schupp, along with Carole Schupp, was active in the Southwestern art scene during the late 20th century, creating enamel works that often depicted regional landscapes and architecture. Their collaborative pieces have been featured in various exhibitions, including the Roswell Fine Arts League, where this particular work was awarded First Prize in April 1985. Schupp's enamels are noted for their dynamic color schemes and abstract representations, making them distinctive additions to any art collection.

Condition:
The artwork is in good condition, with the enamel surface retaining its original gloss and vibrancy. The matting shows noticeable bowing/warping, and there is no protective glass. Please review photos for full visual reference.
