1976 Hickory Chair Co. Bicentennial Mahogany Corner Chair & Ottoman — Queen Anne Style
This finely crafted mahogany corner chair and ottoman set was produced in 1976 by The Hickory Chair Company as part of their limited-edition Bicentennial collection. Designed in the spirit of early American Queen Anne furniture, the chair features a wraparound crest rail, pierced splats, turned stiles, and cabriole legs with pad feet. Both chair and ottoman display hand-painted gilt script numerals — “1776” and “1976” — commemorating 200 years of American independence.
Constructed of solid mahogany, the set retains its original deep burgundy jacquard upholstery with subtle gold accents. The form closely resembles Boston-made roundabout chairs from the mid-18th century, and Hickory Chair’s craftsmanship ensures heirloom quality. As the U.S. approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026, this set stands as a meaningful piece of patriotic furniture design and a collectible statement of American heritage.
