Mid-Century Korean-Style Brass & Burl Chest – Teak House Taiwan
A striking mid-century Korean-style chest made in Taiwan by The Teak House, featuring dramatic burled wood panels and ornate engraved brass fittings in butterfly and cloud motifs. The piece includes a functional brass lock with key, decorative corner brackets, and substantial side handles. Inside, the cabinet offers four dovetailed drawers and a fixed shelf with 6-inch clearance—ideal for organizing smaller items.
Marked on the rear with an original Teak House production label and handwritten order information. Similar in form to Korean bandaji and Japanese tansu, this compact chest blends East Asian traditional motifs with mid-century export craftsmanship, making it equally suited as a decorative accent or practical storage cabinet.
Condition:
Good condition overall with age-appropriate wear. Light surface scuffing, finish wear, and oxidation to brass fittings. Some minor dents to decorative elements, but all hardware remains intact. Interior drawers slide smoothly, and the structure is solid.
Dimensions:
24 x 24 x 16 inches (Height x Width x Depth)
