Benjamin Chee Chee “Swallows” – Signed Woodland School Print, Framed
This is a signed print of “Swallows” by Benjamin Chee Chee (1944–1977), a prominent Ojibwa artist and key figure in the second generation of Woodland School painters. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Chee Chee departed from narrative symbolism and instead embraced a graphic modernist style—defined by clean lines, fluid movement, and minimal forms.
In Swallows, two elegant black birds are captured mid-flight beneath a stylized sun, their forms outlined with remarkable economy and control. Signed in print at the lower right, the artwork exemplifies Chee Chee’s signature balance of restraint and vitality. Professionally matted and framed behind glass, the piece includes an original printed biography card on the reverse, adding valuable provenance.
