Jackson Pollock ‘Number 23’ Tate 1999 Poster, 40 × 48 in., Framed
Large offset‑litho exhibition poster issued by Tate Gallery, London, for the landmark 1999 retrospective that travelled from MoMA.¹ It reproduces Number 23, 1948 (enamel on paper, Tate inv. T00384), one of Pollock’s electrifying black‑and‑white drip works.² Energetic swirls of black enamel race across a white field, the artist’s facsimile signature and “48” printed within the image. At 40 × 48 in. overall, the sheet is dramatically matted and glazed in a light maple moulding—an accessible way to bring blue‑chip Abstract Expressionism into a collection or modern office space. Tate posters from this show have become collectible décor objects in their own right.
Condition
Good vintage condition. Print surface remains clean and bright; mat shows no discoloration. Maple frame displays scattered light rubs/knicks. Plexiglass panel has several shallow scratches that are noticeable only in raking light and do not impede viewing. No tears, stains, or foxing to the sheet—see photos for detail.
