Vintage Minerva No. 136L Mechanical Stopwatch – Swiss Precision, Boxed
This vintage Minerva No. 136L mechanical stopwatch exemplifies the precision and craftsmanship of mid-20th-century Swiss horology. Founded in 1858 in Villeret, Switzerland, Minerva built its reputation on the production of finely tuned chronographs and stopwatches, which became standard tools in sporting, scientific, and industrial applications throughout the 20th century.
The stopwatch features a polished chrome case, white dial with black and red Arabic numerals, a central sweep second hand, and a 15-minute register at 12 o'clock. The dial is marked “Minerva” and “Patent,” and the reverse is engraved “SADLER,” likely indicating a former owner or institutional marking.
Included with the piece are the original cardboard box—handwritten with the model number “No. 136L”—and the distinctive red tag reading “Minerva – Unbreakable Mainspring,” a nod to the brand's technical durability claims of the era.
Condition:
In excellent condition overall. The case shows only light scuffs on the reverse. The dial is clean and well-preserved. Box exhibits typical age-related wear but remains intact, with the original hang tag still attached. Functionality has not been tested and is sold as-is.
