Florentine-Style Black & Gilt Hand-Painted Fruit Pedestal Stand
Charming tripod pedestal executed in the Old-World Florentine style. Lightweight wooden panels slot together to form a scrolling silhouette picked out in antiqued gold over deep midnight-black. The circular top showcases a hand-painted still life—golden apple and grapes—encircled by intricate gilt foliate scrollwork that echoes down each leg. Intentionally aged edges and subtle craquelure lend an authentic time-worn character, perfect for displaying a bust, vase, or trailing plant. Probably a mid- to late-20th-century decorative piece; unsigned. Its compact footprint and 30-inch height make it an eye-catching accent for foyer, sunroom, or retail vignette. (Soup can shown for scale.) Bid to add European flair to any setting!
Condition
Good overall: finish shows purposeful distressed effects with scattered rubs and small nicks consistent with designed wear; structurally sound with no repairs. Paint remains strong and leg panels fit snugly.
