19.5" Impressive Italian Majolica-Style Art Nouveau Vase — Floral Relief
An impressive and highly decorative Italian Art Nouveau ceramic vase in the majolica style, richly adorned with applied floral reliefs. Likely produced in the early 20th century, this bold piece features vividly sculpted roses and leafy stems in naturalistic hues of lavender, peach, and green. The flowers are applied in high relief to a dark, glossy black body with dramatic white marbling, offering strong visual contrast in the Liberty (Italian Art Nouveau) tradition. Although unmarked, the piece is evocative of Capodimonte and other Italian majolica workshops known for elaborate, dimensional florals and high-gloss polychrome glazes. The vase’s large scale and sculptural detail make it a compelling centerpiece for collectors of European ceramics or period interior décor.
Condition:
Good overall condition with visible wear and repair. The outer rim has been previously touched up, and there is a section of missing paint near the top. Scattered chips are present throughout, the largest measuring approximately 7/8". These flaws are consistent with age and the fragile nature of applied decoration. Please examine photos for details.
Dimensions:
Overall: 19.5 x 12 x 11.25 inches
Weight: 14 lbs 8 oz
(Campbell’s soup can included for scale in final image)
