Description

Drueke No. 100611 Chess Primer Set — Weighted Wood Pieces & Board

Offered is the Drueke No. 100611 “Chess Primer” set, a premium mid-century edition from one of America’s most respected game manufacturers. This vintage set includes 32 Staunton-style chessmen—weighted and felted wood pieces in contrasting black and blonde tones—housed in a molded green tray within the original printed box. The set also includes a large wooden chess board featuring a lacquered playing surface with alternating brown and buff squares, bordered by a double-line inlay.

Founded in 1914, Drueke became known for producing high-quality, American-made chess sets, particularly during wartime periods when European imports were limited. The No. 100611 was among their top-tier models, offering both weight and felt for smoother, more stable gameplay. These sets are favored by collectors for their quality construction and nostalgic design.

Condition:
In good condition with signs of light use. One black knight shows minor paint loss, and there is a visible hairline split on the surface of the board. However, the board remains solid, stable, and fully functional. The original box has moderate wear and some edge fading, but all pieces are present and neatly stored in their original compartments.

Dimensions:

  • Board: Approximately 12 x 12 inches
  • Chess pieces Height: 1" - 2"
  • Weight: Approximately 4 lbs (boxed)
