Antique Spanish Revival Sacred Heart Headboard — Hand-Carved, Mexico
This antique Spanish Revival headboard was hand-carved in Mexico from solid wood, featuring richly detailed religious iconography and traditional craftsmanship. The arched crest showcases the Sacred Heart of Jesus in deep relief, flanked by birds and scrolling foliate designs—motifs deeply rooted in Mexican Catholic folk art of the early-to-mid 20th century.
Turned finials, baluster-style spindles, and inset panels add architectural depth and presence. The visible wormholes—naturally formed over time—enhance the aged character of the wood and affirm its authenticity. These marks, typical of older rural Mexican furniture, reflect the environmental conditions and artisanal methods of the period. Their presence is considered a desirable feature in Spanish Colonial and hacienda-style decor.
Measuring 52 inches wide, the piece fits a vintage full-size bed frame and can also be adapted for wall display or decorative use. A compelling statement piece with devotional and historical resonance.
