Description

Sterling & Coral Squash Blossom Earrings

A finely crafted pair of Navajo sterling silver squash blossom earrings, signed LAR. Each earring is set with six natural coral cabochons (approx. 3.5 mm each) in serrated bezels, framed by eight blossoms and a total of 48 silver beads. The design culminates in a miniature naja pendant, a crescent form long associated with protection and beauty in Navajo jewelry. Fitted with post backs, the earrings are lightweight at 9.49 grams combined, yet carry the bold visual presence of the larger squash blossom necklaces they echo.

The hallmark “LAR” is stamped on the reverse. While not catalogued in major hallmark references, it reflects the individualized signature tradition of Native American silversmiths, where lesser-documented artisans’ works often become rare collector’s finds. The use of coral adds a vivid contrast to the aged sterling silver, making these earrings both a striking accessory and a collectible piece of Southwestern artistry.

Condition:
Good condition overall. Stones are secure in their settings. Surface tarnish and patina consistent with age; polishing left to the buyer’s preference.

Dimensions:

  • Overall: 1.85" x 1.02" x .25"
  • Naja: .34" x .39" x .16"
  • Weight: 9.49 grams total (approx. 4.7 grams each)
