Hand-Painted Folk Art Style Wall Mirror
Colorful hand-painted folk art style wall mirror, crafted in Sri Lanka. The arched wooden frame is decorated in a lively palette of pink, green, yellow, and blue, with checkerboard corners, dotted accents, and stylized geometric borders. At the crest, a whimsical face with rosy cheeks appears above a radiating arc and fish motif, lending the piece its distinctive personality.
Produced for VBI Inc. during the mid-to-late 20th century, this mirror reflects the era’s interest in handcrafted, globally sourced decor. The label on the reverse confirms its origin and importer. VBI items were known for their bright, folk-inspired designs and were sold in select U.S. markets. This larger-sized example is especially striking and adds playful character to eclectic interiors or folk-art inspired collections.
Condition
In good condition overall, with minor surface wear consistent with age. Some light scuffs and edge nicks are present, particularly at the corners, but the painted surface remains vibrant and the mirror glass is clear.
