Description

Suzanne Kane Hand-Sculpted Ceramic Sculpture – Pear Motif

Hand-sculpted and hand-painted ceramic sculpture by Suzanne Kane, signed by the artist. This imaginative work features a triangular, textured body with layered circular motifs in cool grey and lavender hues, supported on dynamic, wave-like legs. The cresting top edge adds a sense of organic movement, while the central alcove houses a suspended pear form in rich ochre tones, offering striking contrast and visual depth. Finished with a felt bottom, this work exemplifies Kane’s unique approach to sculptural design, merging natural inspiration with surreal abstraction.

Artist Biography: Suzanne Kane (American, b. 20th Century) is a contemporary sculptor known for her imaginative ceramic and mixed-media works. Born outside Detroit, she earned a BFA in Sculpture from Michigan State University and an MFA in Ceramics from New Mexico State University. Now based in New Mexico, Kane draws inspiration from the Chihuahuan Desert, translating the resilience of desert flora into textured, organic forms. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is included in the collections of the Archie Bray Foundation (Montana), the New Mexico State Capitol, the Las Cruces Museum of Fine Arts, and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, among others.
