Description

Acoma Pueblo Polychrome Pottery Jar, ca. 1940 – Hand Coiled & Painted

A finely crafted Acoma Pueblo polychrome pottery jar, dating to circa 1940. Hand-coiled and hand-painted, the vessel displays a globular form with slightly flared rim, decorated in bold black and orange geometric and scroll motifs over a white slip. The interior is finished in natural red clay. Well-balanced and proportioned, the jar reflects the signature artistry of Acoma Pueblo potters, renowned for their thin-walled construction and masterful symmetry.

This piece comes from a private New Mexico collection and is unsigned, as is common for works of this period. Its design elements, rooted in centuries of Pueblo tradition, make it a striking display piece and an excellent addition to any collection of Native American or Southwestern art.
