Antique Black Steel Strong Box – Lummus Co., Newark NJ

This early-to-mid 20th century black-painted steel strong box is stenciled “William C. Bennett c/o The Lummus Company, 146–246 Haynes Ave, Newark, New Jersey.” Far more than a trunk, it was built for security, fitted with two hinged latches designed to take padlocks for safe transport of valuable contents.
