Issued under royal edict on June 10, 1781, this rare colonial-era French banknote represents the Isles de France et de Bourbon (modern Mauritius and Réunion). Denominated at 500 Livres Tournois, it was authorized for circulation exclusively in these strategic Indian Ocean colonies.
