Impressive White Wolf Kachina doll by Navajo artist L. Begay, signed on the underside of the natural wood base with Thoreau, New Mexico address. The figure is hand-carved and painted in striking black and white tones, detailed with real fur, feathers, leather garments, and sea shell accents. The expressive wolf mask, with red-lined ears and open mouth, is complemented by a woven textile apron and painted nailhead details. The figure holds a bow and gourd rattle, embodying strength, instinct, and spiritual guardianship within Southwestern cultural tradition.
A finely crafted example of L. Begay’s distinctive 1990s Navajo artistry.
