Seikosha Regulator Wall Clock — Oak Case, Brass Dial, 32", Early 20th C.
An early 20th-century Seikosha regulator wall clock featuring a finely carved oak case with arched pediment, scrollwork, and turned side columns. The polished brass dial displays Roman numerals and blued steel hands, marked Seikosha, Tokyo, Japan. A brass pendulum with a wooden rod is visible through the hinged glass front door, complementing the warm oak finish.
Founded in 1892 as the forerunner to Seiko, Seikosha became Japan’s leading maker of precision wall clocks. This example, likely dating between 1910 and 1930, represents one of their higher-grade time-and-strike regulators—renowned for craftsmanship and elegant Western styling. A fine display piece for collectors of early Seiko history or period interiors.
Condition
Excellent overall shape with minor dings and gentle wear from age. No visible remarkable damage. The oak case retains a rich tone and detailed carving; brass dial and pendulum show mild patina. The movement runs briefly and chimes on the hour, but professional cleaning or servicing is required for reliable long-term operation.
