Description

(11) Anchor Hocking 1920s Block Optic Green Uranium Glass Plates – 8.25"

Beautiful set of eleven Anchor Hocking “Block Optic” uranium glass plates, produced in the late 1920s to early 1930s. This iconic Depression-era pattern features a distinctive geometric block texture that creates a subtle checkerboard effect when light passes through. Crafted in transparent green uranium glass, each piece glows a brilliant fluorescent green under ultraviolet light, a hallmark of authentic early Hocking production.

Measuring approximately 8.25 inches in diameter and 0.5 inch high, these luncheon plates capture the refined Art Deco styling that defined Anchor Hocking’s early pressed-glass work. The Block Optic pattern remains one of the company’s most collectible designs, valued for its crisp optical motif and luminous beauty. A fine addition for collectors of Depression glass or those seeking a glowing centerpiece display.

Condition

Good overall vintage condition. Two plates have small rim chips, as shown in the photos. The remaining nine show light surface wear and minimal utensil marks consistent with age and use. No cracks or major damage. All pieces glow vividly under blacklight, confirming authentic uranium glass content.

Dimensions

  • Diameter: 8.25 inches
  • Height: 0.5 inch
  • Quantity: 11 plates

Produced between 1929 and 1933 by the Hocking Glass Company (later Anchor Hocking), the Block Optic line was offered in several colors, with green uranium glass being among the most sought-after. Its elegant geometric pattern and distinctive fluorescence make it a cornerstone of Depression glass collecting today.
